No.2 · The Exercise Book

The Exercise Book

Understanding it is not the same as being able to do it. This is where the second one happens.

A drill for every point. Every answer, worked.

  • Over ninety question types — every way the exam can ask each of the 22 knowledge points.
  • Five different sets of each — so you can work one, leave it a fortnight, and come back to a page you have never seen.
  • Every answer worked out in full, bound into the same book. There is no second book to buy.

Nobody ever failed this exam from not having read enough

They failed because the one question they met on the day was phrased in a way they had never seen, and there was no time to work out what it was asking.

That is a practice problem, not a knowledge problem. The Knowledge Book tells you how a thing works. This one makes you do it until doing it is boring — which is the only state in which you can be trusted to do it under exam pressure.

Every sheet is built from one knowledge point, and the sheets climb: the first rung is the version a Grade 2 pupil could do, the last is harder than the exam will be. You can see the moment a thing stops being difficult.

Do a page a day and the exam stops being an event. It is just another page.

The exercise roadmap — every question type in the book on one page

The roadmap, printed in the book. Every question type across the same 22 knowledge points, each with a box to tick — so you always know what you have done and what is left.

An exercise sheet from the book

Real practice, not a quiz

Ten to twenty questions on one point, engraved by hand, with room to write. Print it, work it, print it again.

An answer sheet

Every answer, worked

Each answer sheet is generated from the same data as its questions, so it can never disagree with them. No guessing whether you got it right.

The 22 knowledge points

The same 22 points

It follows the Knowledge Book exactly. Learn a point, turn to its drills, come back. Nothing to cross-reference, nothing to hunt for.

Why five sets and not one

A worksheet you have already done tells you nothing. You remember the answers, not the method — and you walk away believing you can do it.

So every question type has five separate sets. Work set A today. In a fortnight, work set C: same knowledge, questions you have never laid eyes on. That is the difference between recognising and knowing.

Nothing here is scanned or borrowed. Every stave was engraved by hand to one house standard — the same standard as the Knowledge Book.
